Beautiful, rich, famous and successful, you’d never guess that some celebrities were not always treated like American royalty. Believe it or not, some celebrities went through the same awkward phase as the rest of us, some more so because they were not your ‘typical’ teens and children. Most of us forget that the most handsome actors in the world were not necessarily handsome jocks in high school; they were into theater and the arts, and that made some of them wildly unpopular. But because they are rich and famous now, they’re much cooler. The same goes for some of the world’s most famous women. They weren’t always beautiful and well-dressed and loved; some were far from glamorous, and they experienced many of the same things as kids and teens as the ones living today experience, and that includes bullying. You don’t think that the people you perceive as the coolest in the world ever had to experience anything like bullying, but some of them did and they’re looking to bring awareness to this horrible act. The recent interview that Demi Moore did when she became emotional about daughter Rumer, bullies and her daughter’s amazing performances on Dancing with the Stars hit home for a lot of stars, and we thought we’d bring to your attention five other celebs also bullied growing up.
Lady Gaga
It’s probably not going to shock you to hear that Lady Gaga did not fit in when she was in school. She had dreams that were unlike any of her classmates and she was picked on because of her dreams. She states that it’s taken her a very long time to learn to be okay with the person she really is in life.
Tom Cruise
It’s not a huge secret that Cruise is not the tallest man in Hollywood, but that made him a target as a child. He was pushed and beat up. He remembers how terrified he was and how he’d see his bullies approaching and he’d begin to sweat and want to vomit when they began pushing him around.
Megan Fox
She’s one of the hottest actresses in the world, but she was not popular growing up. She got through it by reminding herself that the person picking on her the most was probably very insecure and that she would eventually move on and never have to see her again. It wasn’t easy for the star, but she got through high school and moved on.
Demi Lovato
She remembers middle school as a time when her classmates were already hating on her because she was on her way to becoming famous. She would see them passing around “hate petitions” about her and the entire school would sign them and then give them to her so she would know they all hated her.
Jason Segel
He only spent about a decade of his life playing a main character in one of the most hilarious sitcoms ever made, but that doesn’t mean the HIMYM star wasn’t bullied. He spent his school years towering over his friends and classmates and they would literally jump on his back and demand that the “oaf” carry them around.
