How stoked are you that Colin Jost is the new Weekend Update anchor on SNL? Wait, what do you mean you’re not excited? Oh, you literally have no idea who he is and are not at all familiar with the name? Yes, you and most of the world. But what you and most of the world don’t know is that Colin Jost has been one of the main writers on SNL since 2005. He is now the head writer, and whether or not you know it, that is generally who they give the anchor spot to. Just like Tina Fey and Seth Meyers before him.

Colin Jost has been behind the scenes at SNL for almost a decade, and he is responsible for writing many of the sketches you have loved over the last few years. The fact that he has been nominated for Emmys seven time for SNL sure didn’t hurt his chances.

Okay, this is the part where I tell you not to worry. Where I tell you change is good, and we just need to trust that SNL knows what they are doing here. The name Colin Jost may not be familiar now, but how about we check back in a year and see just how he’s doing?
